Theme 6: Talent Show
For the last weeks of school we will be investigating the theme Talent Show. We will read many fiction and non fiction stories including “The Art Lesson” by Tomie dePaola, “Moses Goes to a Concert” by Isaac Millman, “The School Mural” by Sarah Vasquez, “Join the Circus” by Zhang Jin as told to Mike McLeod, and “Raymond’s Best Summer” by Jean Rogers.
In addition, the children will identify as well as continue to use nouns, pronouns, verbs, and adjectives in their writing pieces as a way to make their writing more detailed and thorough. The children continue to practice responding to comprehension questions by writing complete detailed sentences to support their answers. Summarizing stories both verbally and written is a skill that the children will continue to practice.
