Theme 2: Nature Walk
During our second theme, Nature Walk., the children will investigate nature through stories. We will read many fiction and non fiction stories including “Henry and Mudge and the Starry Night” by Cynthia Rylant, “Exploring Parks with Ranger Dockett” by Alice K. Flanagan, “Around the Pond: Who’s Been Here?” by Lindsay Barrett George, “Owl Moon” by Jane Yolen, and “Owls” by Michael George. The children will also be reading some fables such as “The Hare and the Tortoise,” “The Crow and the Pitcher,” “The Grasshopper and the Ants,” “Belling the Cat,” and “The Fly on the Wagon.”
The children will continue to practice writing complete sentences and naming parts of a sentence. The children will also continue to write paragraphs with details to support their ideas.
