Theme 1: Silly Stories
Our first reading theme of the year, Silly Stories., is always a favorite theme for the children! We will read many fantasy stories including Dragon Gets By by Dav Pilkey. In this silly story Dragon goes on an adventurous shopping trip at the grocery store! Find out what happens when Dragon eats so much, he cannot fir into his car! This theme also includes some other fantastic stories such as: Julius, a cool pig from Alaska, by Angela Johnson, and find out about some silly farm animals who play house in Mrs. Brown Went to Town by Wong Herbert Yee.
In addition, we will review words with short and long vowel sounds. Finally, the children will practice writing complete sentences and naming parts of a sentence. The children will have the opportunity to create their own silly stories.
